Ontario iGaming Wagers Hit Record CA$9.88B in July
Ontario's iGaming market split sharply along product lines in July, according to iGaming Ontario. Online casino wagers surged to a record CA$8.78 billion, powering total handle to an all-time high. Sports betting told a different story, slipping below CA$1 billion as World Cup wagering activity faded. Combined, the two verticals pushed overall bets to CA$9.88 billion (US$7.1 billion) for the month. That topped the previous record of CA$9.59 billion set in March and marked a 31% rise from July 2025.
Online Casino Wagers and Revenue Both Set Records
Online casino products drove July's headline numbers. Wagers on slots, table games, and peer-to-peer bingo reached CA$8.78 billion, up 6% from June and 30% year-over-year. The total accounted for 89% of Ontario's iGaming handle. Casino revenue also set a record, reaching CA$330.4 million in non-adjusted gross gaming revenue. That figure rose 4% month-over-month and roughly 31% year-over-year. It marked the third time in 2026 that casino revenue set a new monthly high.
Ontario's online casino segment has now topped CA$305 million in revenue in seven of the past eight months.
Sports Betting Wagers Drop Below CA$1 Billion
Sports betting moved in the opposite direction. Wagers on betting products, including sports, esports, and prop bets, came in below CA$1 billion for July. That marked a pullback from June, when Ontario bettors wagered heavily on the FIFA World Cup. Matches hosted across Mexico, Canada, and the United States ran from June 11 through July 19. Canada's national team was eliminated during that stretch, a result that likely dampened betting interest through July. Sports betting still accounted for roughly 10% of total handle for the month. Peer-to-peer poker remained a minor share of the market, contributing about 1% of wagers. Poker revenue fell more than 10% year-over-year.
Total Revenue Tops CA$413.6M as New Operators Launch
Total non-adjusted gross gaming revenue across all products reached CA$413.6 million in July, up 3% month-over-month and 33% year-over-year. It was the second-highest monthly total on record, behind only December 2025. The number of active player accounts also climbed to a new high.
Two new operators likely contributed to that growth. DAZN Bet launched its platform in Ontario on June 30. Hard Rock Bet debuted its sportsbook and casino in the province on July 22. Despite more active accounts, average revenue per account fell 7.6% year-over-year to CA$303. Ontario's iGaming market now includes 50 licensed operators running over 80 gaming sites.
