MEGA MILLIONS CLIMBS IN ‘HOTTEST MONTH’ FOR JACKPOTS
Charleston, W.Va. – Just like the temperature outside, the Mega Millions jackpot continues to steadily climb, reaching an estimated $707 million ahead of Tuesday’s drawing. The estimated cash value currently sits at $307.7 million.
July is the winningest month in Mega Millions history, where a record 27 jackpots have been won since the game’s inception.
Mega Millions officially launched in 2002, and most recently restructured to a $5 price point with a built-in multiplier in April 2025. This change brought with it a bigger starting jackpot and larger prizes for non-jackpot tiers.
Tuesday will be the 36th drawing in the current jackpot run, with more than 9.2 million prizes won across all nine prize tiers.
The $707 million jackpot also breaks into the Top 10 for all-time Mega Millions jackpots.
Mega Millions tickets cost $5 to play and must be purchased by 9:59 PM before Tuesday or Friday drawings. Each play purchased is given a random multiplier for non-jackpot prizes.
