Veikkaus January–June 2026: strong growth in digital channels
Veikkaus' first year has progressed positively and in line with our expectations: we are back on the path of growth. It is great to see that our investments in digital business and technical capabilities are already paying off in the current operating environment. The growth of our domestic business' online sales has exceeded the general market development in Finland, and in the first half of the year 64.5% of the gaming margin came from the digital channel, says Veikkaus' CEO Olli Sarekoski.
Veikkaus has had a promising start to 2026, and the company has returned to growth. In domestic operations, growth has been particularly focused on digital channels. The subsidiary Fennica Gaming, which operates international B2B business, continued to expand and signed significant new distribution agreements. Veikkaus continues to actively prepare for the upcoming multi-license market and the increasing competition both domestically and internationally.
Veikkaus Group's revenue from its actual operations in January-June 2026 was EUR 471.3 (466.4) million. The Group's operating profit was EUR 227.7 (220.6) million and the result was EUR 234.2 (229.6) million. Revenue and result were improved in particular by the growth of digital business: The Lottery Games and Slot Machines business group's gaming margin in digital channels grew by 9.1% and that of the Online Casino and Betting business group by 5.0%. At the end of June, Veikkaus had almost 2.7 million registered customers.
– Veikkaus' first year has progressed positively and in line with our expectations: we are back on the path of growth.
The turnover of Fennica Gaming, a subsidiary engaged in international B2B business, including game production for Veikkaus' domestic businesses, grew by 80.6% in January-June and was EUR 10.3 million (5.7).
– Fennica Gaming's growth has continued in international markets, and the company has progressed in new distribution partnerships and customer relationships according to our plans. In the first half of the year, Fennica Gaming has expanded its operations to several new markets: Italy, Canada, two German states, Mexico, the Czech Republic and Iceland, Sarekoski says.
The Finnish gambling market will transition to a licensing system on 1 July 2027. In May, Veikkaus established two separate subsidiaries for the upcoming market and submitted license applications for both exclusive operations and the competitive license market. Preparations for the opening of the market are progressing as planned.
– Veikkaus has excellent conditions to succeed also in the new licensing market. We are constantly developing our services and products so that we can offer our customers an entertaining and safe gaming environment. Utilizing technology and internationalization are key here, says Sarekoski.
