Danske Spil marks lotteries, igaming progress in H1
Danish gambling operator provides a trading update for the first half of the year.
Denmark’s state-owned gambling operator Danske Spil counted strong progress for lotteries and online casino among its half-year highlights.
Gross gaming revenue rose by around two per cent year-on-year from DKK2.55bn (US$395.9m) to DKK2.59bn ($402m).
The DKK39m ($6.1m) rise in revenue was matched by a DKK46m ($7.2m) rise in profit after tax, which climbed almost five per cent to DKK1.04bn ($162.3m) from DKK999m ($155.3m).
Lotteries, igaming steer Danske Spil growth
Danske Spil said Eurojackpot broke a sales record in H1, with 358,000 tickets being bought for a single draw in May with a prize pool of DKK750m ($116.6m).
Det Store Påske Lotto, which is part of Danske Spil's flagship holiday products, also experienced record sales with a prize pool.
But the company’s “primary growth” came from its Danske Licens Spil brand, which onboarded a new poker platform and continued its progress in online casino.
Danske Spil said its Oddset brand also enjoyed a strong World Cup.
Gaming revenue guidance restated
As a result of its H1 efforts, Danske Spil reinstated its 2026 guidance, predicting gross gaming revenue of around DKK5.3bn ($824m) and a profit after tax of up to DKK2.05bn ($318.7m).
CEO Nikolas Lyhne-Knudsen said: “We have achieved positive development in the first half of 2026. The lotteries maintain a high level, and at the same time we have made great progress in Danske Licens Spil, where the market is growing and where the Danish poker community has welcomed our new platform.
“This is particularly satisfactory in a market with fierce international competition and rapidly changing consumer habits.
“We must constantly develop Danske Spil and our products so that we continue to be relevant to the Danes and stand strong as the Danes' responsible gaming company.”
In 2025, Danske Spil posted record profit and pointed to progress on responsible gaming.
