The African Lotteries & Gaming Association (ALGA) announced Yodit Wolde, former executive at the Ethiopian Lottery Service, and John Mutua have officially joined the ALGA Board of Directors

The African Lotteries & Gaming Association (ALGA) is honored to announce the addition of Ms. Yodit Wolde to its Board of Directors. As the former Deputy CEO of Licensing and Control at the Ethiopian Lottery Service (ELS), Ms. Wolde is recognized as a highly respected leader in lottery regulation and governance.

Throughout her career, she has been instrumental in advancing Ethiopia’s lottery sector. Her efforts have focused on strengthening licensing frameworks, enhancing regulatory oversight, and combating illegal lottery activities. Her work is a testament to her steadfast commitment to building an industry founded on transparency, accountability, and public trust.

Under her leadership, the ELS embarked on significant reforms aimed at modernizing regulatory and legal frameworks. This included the development of monitoring systems designed to improve the oversight of licensed operators and promote greater compliance across the industry, representing a major step toward a more robust, transparent, and future-ready lottery ecosystem.

Furthermore, Ms. Wolde is a strong advocate for responsible gaming. She has consistently championed awareness, operator accountability, and ethical industry practices. Her dedication to fostering a culture of responsibility aligns seamlessly with ALGA’s vision of ensuring that gaming and lotteries contribute positively to society while safeguarding players and communities. Beyond regulation, her efforts to streamline licensing processes, strengthen commission collection mechanisms, and improve operational efficiencies have significantly enhanced the sector’s revenue-generating capacity and long-term sustainability.

John Mutua Joins the ALGA Board of Directors

The African Lotteries & Gaming Association (ALGA) has officially appointed Mr. John Mutua to its Board of Directors. Bringing over 20 years of expertise in gaming regulation, market governance, and policy creation, Mutua is widely recognized for his dedication to fostering sustainable and transparent gaming environments throughout Africa. 

In his current role as CEO of the Association of Gaming Operators Kenya (AGOK), he continues to be a prominent advocate for public-private partnerships, responsible gambling, and the development of fair licensing and taxation frameworks within the industry.
