The Ohio Lottery recognizes September as Responsible Gambling Education Month

CLEVELAND – The Ohio Lottery recognizes September as Responsible Gambling Education Month (RGEM) to increase public understanding of responsible gambling practices and promote education, prevention, and access to support services.
Responsible Gambling Education Month encourages players, families, and communities to learn how to set limits, identify warning signs, and understand the risks associated with gambling. In Ohio, enhancing prevention efforts and improving access to educational resources remain central to reducing gambling-related harm.
Throughout September, the Ohio Lottery will support RGEM through statewide awareness initiatives including a digital education campaign, retailer messaging, and expanded responsible gambling training for Ohio Lottery staff.
“Responsible Gambling Education Month highlights our commitment to ensuring players have the information and resources needed to make healthy decisions,” said Jimmie Hicks III, Ohio Lottery Deputy Director of Responsible Gambling. “With the launch of our new responsible gambling platform, WellPlayed Ohio, we are increasing access to tools that promote safer play and help individuals stay informed year-round.”

The platform offers guidance, helpful resources, and an easy to navigate experience designed to help individuals make informed decisions and maintain healthy play habits.
