What does the Mass Lottery have in store for 2026?
- The Massachusetts State Lottery has some new games coming in 2026.
- One of the new games includes a new $30 "Cashword" scratch ticket.
- The new iLottery is expected to be launched this summer.
If you're a Massachusetts resident who is a fan of scratch tickets and other lottery games, you'll be happy to know that there are some new ways to win coming in 2026.
Also, the launch of the Massachusetts online lottery, known as "iLottery," was previously delayed but is expected to arrive in the new year.
"Our team is excited to implement an online lottery," Mark William Bracken, executive director of the Mass Lottery, said in a past release. “We are ready and prepared to offer our players a modern lottery experience in a safe and accessible environment."
Here's what's expected from the Mass Lottery in 2026.
Lucky For Life becoming 'Millionaire For Life' in 2026
First, the "Lucky For Life" multi-state lottery game will soon be replaced by the "Millionaire For Life" game, which will cost $5. The grand prize on this ticket is $1 million a year for life.
The new tickets will start being sold in the Bay State on Feb. 21, 2026, according to the Mass Lottery, adding the first drawing for the game will be on Feb. 22, 2026.
"Lucky For Life" tickets were $2 each and offered $7,000 per week for life, or $25,000 per year.
Asked why the lottery was making the move, Bracken said the decision on the multistate draw game was made through a consortium vote "in an effort to merge Lucky for Life and Cash4Life into a singular game as a more advanced product for its players," according to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
The report continued that the Mass Lottery "did not vote in favor of this change, particularly for the price increase," Bracken said, but is "excited to share this new opportunity to win $1 million a year for life with our players in 2026."
New 'Cashword' scratch ticket on the way
When it comes to scratch tickets, the Mass Lottery is getting ready to launch its first-ever $30 "Cashword" game, which will offer a $10,000,000 grand prize.
The Mass Lottery stated that the new ticket will be unveiled this January, 2026.
Cashword games require players to complete words as if they were doing a crossword puzzle.
About the iLottery?
The iLottery basically legalizes online lottery sales, making it more convenient for players to access things like scratch tickets online, as well as games like Powerball and Mega Millions.
While the iLottery was expected to launch this month, it was postponed until summer 2026.
The iLottery was initially approved back in the summer of 2024.
